Quick Take
Elite sunflower seeds from small-batch perfection. Massive kernels, perfect salt, resealable bags. The Wagyu beef of dugout snacks. Yes, seed quality matters. Your taste buds will thank you.
Running a baseball and softball bat site has a few perks, not the least of which is speaking with ancillary baseball products. Chinook Seedery is one of our more recent finds. They make, as you can guess, large sunflower seeds in a handful of unique flavors. They hooked us up with a few bags, and we’ve been pounding them ever since. Here is a little diddy on our experience and favorites.
Chinook Seedery Table of Contents
The best place to look is directly on the Chinook Seedery site. There, you’ll find more information on their process and customer commitment. Buying from them directly, instead of through the Amazon links above, is the less expensive way. We realize, however, that people’s familiarity with Amazon is often enough of a selling point.
We do have a “best sunflower seeds” page. When we created it, we did not include Chinook in the voting simply because we didn’t know they existed. They have now been added, and we will see how they work.
Chinook Seedery Overview
Chinook produces six types of sunflower seeds. They are Smokehouse BBQ, Hatch Green Chile, Dill Pickle, Parmesan and Pepper, Cinnamon Toast, and Original. We’ve tried all but the Dill Pickle. The seeds are larger than the traditional David and Spitz brands. Chinook claims these seeds are organic and GMO-free.
Our favorites are:
- Parmesan & Pepper: Our favorite, possibly the best seed we’ve ever had.
- Smokehouse BBQ: Also really good.
- Original: A solid third choice.
- Hatch Green Chile: Very good.
- Cinnamon Toast: Not our favorite, but still edible.
We haven’t tried Dill Pickle yet, but we expect to like it.
Parmesan & Pepper

The Parmesan & Pepper seeds are our top pick. We have eaten a lot of seeds over the years, and these stand out as some of the best ever.
Smokehouse BBQ

These are likely our second favorite. The Smokehouse BBQ seeds have a simple BBQ taste and large seed size. Combine them with Hatch Green Chile seeds for a fajita-like experience.
Cinnamon Toast

Cinnamon Toast seeds are not our favorite. While not bad, they don’t match what we typically want in a seed flavor.
Dill Pickle

We haven’t tried Dill Pickle yet, but we generally like that flavor in other brands, so we suspect these will be good too.
Hatch Green Chile

The Hatch Green Chile seeds bring a nice spice and flavor. Not overbearing, and we could eat them all day.
Original

Original seeds are exactly what you’d expect: a traditional, salty taste with large seed size. Perfect for original seed lovers, and great to mix in with other flavors.
