Quick Take
The affordable swing analyzer that nails team features. Great metrics, coach-friendly dashboard, half the price of competitors. Perfect for programs, good for individuals.
We’ve spent time with the Diamond Kinetics (DK) sensor, Zepp Labs Swing Analytics, and the Blast Motion sensor. (You can see a general overview in our Baseball Swing Analyzer summary.) Our recent experience with Diamond Kinetics also included discussions with their home office, a product demo at a trade show, and about four hours of live hitting sessions. Overall, we recommend the Diamond Kinetics sensor for players seeking unique insights on their swing.

Diamond Kinetics Review & Uses

What Is the Diamond Kinetics Swing Analyzer?
The Diamond Kinetics sensor is a swing analyzer that attaches to your baseball or softball bat’s knob. It uses a gyroscope to capture data on each swing and sends that information via Bluetooth to a smartphone app. The app then displays the data through charts, graphs, and metrics, storing it over time to track progress.
These metrics—like swing speed, attack angle, and time to contact—provide insights that were once impossible to gather at an affordable price. Now, for under $200, any player can access these metrics.
Is the Data Helpful?
While it’s interesting to know your swing speed and angle, the real challenge is making that data useful for improvement. Diamond Kinetics, like other sensor companies, continuously updates their app to analyze data and offer hitting suggestions. Among the major swing sensors, DK is as good as any in terms of app updates and functionality.
Team and Pupil Swing Aggregation
One standout feature of DK is its ability to aggregate data for multiple players. A coach or hitting instructor can track swings from various locations in real-time. A player hitting in another state can have their swing metrics appear on the coach’s app seconds later.
This remote capability is a big advantage for teams, coaches, and instructors who want to verify players’ practice sessions without being physically present.
Diamond Kinetics Recommendations

We found the DK Swing Tracker useful for any serious ball player. It delivers metrics and tracks swings like no human can. Its app interface is smooth and provides quick, reliable feedback. While we may prefer Zepp’s training insights (featuring John Mallee) for direct coaching tips, DK’s seamless functionality, low battery use, and team-based approach are fantastic. The ability to sync data in the cloud and analyze it further sets DK apart.
If you need a device just for baseball/softball, Diamond Kinetics should be at the top of your list—especially if you value multi-user, team-based data collection. If you need a multi-sport device or prefer side-by-side comparisons with pro swings, Zepp or Blast might be more appealing.
Diamond Kinetics vs Zepp 2
Both DK and Zepp 2 track swing counts and metrics like swing speed and angle. Both use Bluetooth to connect to a smartphone app and let you view progress over time. Zepp 2 focuses slightly more on the individual player’s training, offering pro swing comparisons and hitting instructions from MLB coaches.
Diamond Kinetics focuses more on the coach’s perspective, allowing multiple players’ data to be viewed simultaneously in real time. If that coach/team aspect matters, DK wins. If personal swing instruction and seeing your swing compared to pros is more important, Zepp might be better.
Coach Focus Advantage
DK’s team-based functionality allows a coach to track multiple players worldwide simultaneously. Zepp tries something similar but not as smoothly. If you want a team/training environment handled remotely, choose DK. This feature may require a small monthly fee, but for serious coaching scenarios, it’s worth it.
Training Advantages
Zepp’s best advantage is comparing your swing to MLB pros and offering hitting tips from John Mallee, the Cubs’ hitting coach. DK has training help too, but Zepp’s pro insight and side-by-side videos give it a slight edge for individual training enthusiasts.
Golf
Zepp works for golf swings as well, just by switching the mount and app. DK focuses solely on baseball and softball. If you want multi-sport use, Zepp is better.
Diamond Kinetics vs Blast Motion
Baseball & Softball Differences
In terms of basic metrics, Blast and DK are similar. But DK’s Diamond Club (a low-cost service) provides robust data syncing and cloud features that Blast doesn’t fully match. If you want a solely baseball/softball-focused product, DK might be preferable.
Golf, Basketball, General Athletics
Blast targets multiple sports, including basketball and track and field. If you need a sensor for various sports, Blast (or Zepp) works better. If you’re baseball/softball-only, DK’s singular focus can be an advantage.
Diamond Kinetics vs Hitting Coach
A sensor is no replacement for a qualified hitting coach. Instead, think of a swing analyzer as a training aid, like a tee or hitting net. Many good hitting instructors use these sensors to track and illustrate improvement. We discuss this in more detail in our Baseball Swing Analyzer article.
