Hitting Vault Review – Is Lisle Worth It?

The Hitting Vault: Master Your Swing Mechanics

Quick Take

The Hitting Vault is an in-depth, self-guided platform for mastering baseball and softball swing mechanics. Led by Coach Lisle, it offers step-by-step guidance for players, parents, and coaches, making it an invaluable resource for improving swings at all levels.

We spend several hours each week behind The Hitting Vault’s paywall. Over time, we’ve watched nearly every one of their videos. Two of our sons are currently in their SwingBuild program. We’ve also spent a considerable amount of time talking to The Hitting Vault staff and exchanging emails with Coach Lisle. With that experience, we set out to write this independent Hitting Vault review.

Just Bat Reviews

We don’t see the Hitting Vault as just an interactive instruction booklet to fix a particular swing. Instead, the Hitting Vault is like the Bible of swing mechanics—authoritative, built on decades of experience, and when applied with patience, it will improve any player’s swing.

Hitting Vault Pricing

A $400 Bat and a $4 Swing

We first heard the phrase “$400 bat and a $4 swing” from Coach Lisle, the featured instructor at the Hitting Vault. The idea is that an expensive bat won’t fix a terrible swing.

As a site that reviews bats, we agree. Many parents spend a lot on a high-end bat but hesitate to invest in proper swing instruction. Even well-meaning travel ball coaches may not provide the level of expertise needed.

We’d take a great swing with a cheap bat over a poor swing with a great bat any day. Of course, the best scenario is a great swing and a great bat. If you’re willing to spend $250+ on a bat, consider investing in top-tier hitting instruction as well.

Hitting Vault Recommendations

The Hitting Vault isn’t just about fixing a single swing issue. It’s a comprehensive resource on swing mechanics. Think of it as a master class from a recognized hitting guru. If you go through the material methodically, any player—from T-ball to pro—can improve.

However, the Hitting Vault doesn’t provide a set timeline or practice regimen. No prescribed reps or built-in assessments are included. You’ll need to self-direct your training or involve a parent, coach, or teammate to track progress and offer feedback.

For Coaches

If you coach competitive softball or baseball and want authoritative advice on building great swings, The Hitting Vault is perfect. Every serious coach could benefit from Coach Lisle’s instruction.

The Hitting Vault also introduced a fitness program called Swingfit. It will be interesting to see how that’s received.

For Parents

If you’re deeply involved in your child’s baseball or softball journey, The Hitting Vault could be a valuable tool. Just be prepared to help implement the instruction. Considering the cost of playing competitive ball, investing a bit more to ensure your player uses proper mechanics is sensible.

For Players

Your coach might be a well-intentioned volunteer without deep hitting mechanics knowledge. The Hitting Vault gives you access to pro-level coaching. Regardless of your current skill, you’ll find something useful. Just remember that it’s up to you to practice and apply what you learn. Partnering with a parent or teammate can help.
