We measured the swing weight of every BBCOR bat. Comparing those numbers with the available sizing options, the lightest BBCOR bat in 2025 is the DeMarini Voodoo One, although the Rawlings MACH AI is a close second. The Voodoo swings approximately 9.5% lighter than the average BBCOR bat in any particular length.
We also found DeMarini’s Voodoo One comes in a close second, although it lacks a 29-inch option. Easton’s Alpha ALX and Slugger’s Meta also offer 29-inch versions that swing very light compared to 30+ inch bats. The lightest swinging two-piece bat is DeMarini’s CF.
The Lightest 2025 BBCOR Bat
DeMarini Voodoo One Scale weight is not the same as swing weight. Swing weight is what matters. In terms of swing weight, the easiest bat to swing in the 2024 class of BBCOR bats is Louisville Slugger’s Solo. The 2nd Lightest BBCOR Bat
2024 Rawlings MACH AI Per length, the Rawlings MACH AI in 2024/2025 is the 2nd lightest bat—about .3% heavier than the Voodoo one—an indistinguishable amount. Its shortest size is a 30-inch.
A Minimum Swing Weight
BBCOR standards require a minimum swing weight. In other words, a manufacturer cannot make a bat as light as they physically can. There is no maximum swing weight requirement. Still, BBCOR bats are well spread out, starting at the minimum and moving up about 15%.
The Lightest Two-Piece BBCOR Bat
2025 Demarini CF The CF from Demarini in BBCOR is the lightest swinging two-piece bat you can find. It swings about 3% heavier than a bat like the Voodoo One.
What Affects Swing Weight More: Bat Length or Scale Weight?
The answer to this is longer than the paragraph or two we’ll give it here. But in short, both affect swing weight about equally. When finding the lighter of two BBCOR bats, the one with a shorter size will almost always have a lower swing weight.
The Drop?
The drop is the numerical difference between the bat’s length in inches and the bat’s weight in ounces. For example, a 32-inch bat with a drop 3 weighs 29 ounces. All BBCOR bats are required to be a drop 3. There is some allowed variance in the scale weight.
USA Bat or BBCOR?
With the advent of USA Bats, a few leagues allow players to swing either a BBCOR or USA Bat. Since the performance standard is virtually the same, the idea is there is no trampoline advantage to one or the other. Leagues that allow this are usually tailored to the 13 to 15-year-old market.

The Lightest BBCOR Bat the Smallest Size
If you want to ensure you get the lightest bat, the trick is to get the smallest size. For 2025, the Atlas, Voodoo One, and CAT X2 come in a 29-inch. Other BBCOR bats start, at the least, in a 30-inch. So, even though a bat like the CF or MACH AI has a lighter swing weight, the 29-inch Atlas or Marucci CAT X2 would swing lighter than any MACH AI or DeMarini CF you could find.

Admittedly, end-loaded bats may rarely find a home in a short size. Players looking for something short often seek as little swing weight as possible. But why serious bats designed with a light swing don’t frequently come in a 29-inch length is frustrating, significantly if your newly minted BBCOR player hasn’t yet grown.
USA/BBCOR combo leagues have solved much of this issue (since USA Bats come in less than drop 3 ratios). We are hopeful more leagues serving that age group will adopt similar policies.
