The 2019 Louisville Slugger PXT fastpitch bat brought proven composite performance to softball players seeking a balanced feel. This two-piece design focused on maximizing swing speed while maintaining a forgiving sweet spot.
Models Overview
Available in various fastpitch drops, the PXT featured Louisville Slugger's proven composite barrel technology and patented connection system. The balanced swing weight across all models made it popular among contact-oriented players.
Performance Comparison
2019 Slugger PXT Construction vs 2018 PXT
The 2019 version of the bat uses a "Mass FX" technology that puts more mass behind the sweet spot of the barrel. This is a marketing way of saying the bat swings heavier than previous year's versions.
As such, the 2019 version of the bat is not a good replacement to the 2018 version of the PXT. The 2019 version is a heavy swing built for bigger power hitters, or smaller hitters that like a sledge hammer type feel on their bats.
Comparable Bats
Although the Ghost Double Barrel fastpitch bat from Easton is designed considerably different than the PXT the swing weights and barrel sizes are very similar. Feedback from the players we had hit with the bats was also similar.
The Ghost Double barrel, however, uses a double barrel design. That is, inside the bat there is an additional barrel that works as a governor. The PXT is just a single barrel with no ring design.
