What is the quick review?

The 2022 Louisville Slugger Solo is a single-piece bat with a light swing and reasonably sized barrel. It's available in BBCOR, USA drop 11 and in USSSA in a drop 10, 8, and 5 and a JBB version. The original Solo (called the 617 Solo) in BBCOR hit the shelves for the 2017 season, while the USSSA and USA versions followed in 2018. The most popular and best-reviewed of the bunch is the drop 11 USA Solo, which serves the entry-level hitter that needs a light bat and can perform at the limit. The USSSA bat appeals to the smaller player who wants more bat speed than feel. The BBCOR 2022 Solo fits the smaller high school player who wants a stiff bat and needs a light swing.

What models and sizes are available?

Our hitters like the nice grip, barrel size and light swing of the 2022 Louisville Slugger Solo. Although the USSSA version doesn't get as much slobber, the BBCOR version for a smaller hitter is a homerun. USA in a drop 11 is a really, really good fit for the entry level player looking for a legit chance to make some noise given his strength limitations.

How is it built?

  • SL Hyper™ Superlight AlloyIncredibly light-swinging and features a thinner wall design for improved performance
  • SPD™ Composite End Capreduces weight toward the end of the bat, allowing for increased swing speed.
  • Premium LS Pro Comfort Grip™Designed to give players added tack and cushion to improve feel and bat control through the zone
  • One-Piece ConstructionFor stiffer feel on contact and elite energy transfer
  • Ultra-Balanced Swing WeightExtremely light-swinging, for ultimate combination of speed and power

How does it compare?

There are no structural changes between the 2021 and 2022 Louisville Slugger Solo bats. The graphics are updated. But, note, for 2021 Slugger did not release a USA bat in the Solo drop 11. Instead, they continued to sell the 2020 version of the drop 11 through 2021. For 2022, there is a "new" (although unchanged) 2022 Slugger Solo USA drop 11.

Bottom line

Built for speed, 2022 Solo USSSA Baseball Bat from Louisville Slugger delivers maximum barrel control for young travel ballplayers. Contact hitters everywhere keep coming back to this bat for its easy-swinging profile, ultra-balanced swing weight, and great pop on contact. The premium SL Hyper™ alloy design offers a superlight swing to maximize barrel control, and the one-piece construction creates a stiff feel on contact. The lightweight SPD™ Composite End Cap pairs with the barrel’s thinner wall design to give young players a massive sweet spot and maximum plate coverage.
