The Combat Spec A1 is a legit BBCOR one-piece alloy bat with a stiff, balanced feel and a long list of limited colorways. It is worth considering at normal retail, not at an inflated resale premium. This review covers all 24 A1 editions in our active catalog, from Sandstorm and Country Club through Outdoor, Cookie Jar, and Coastal. We have not tested these Coastal colorways separately; their grades use our existing Spec A1 assessment.

Models Overview

The Spec A1 is a BBCOR -3, one-piece alloy platform. Our catalog currently has 24 active A1 editions across seven groups: Original, Country Club, Rodeo, Performance, Outdoor, Cookie Jar, and Coastal. Active catalog coverage does not mean every size is currently in stock.

The collection headings above keep every edition and image together. Original includes Cookies and Cream, Mint Militia, and Sandstorm. Country Club includes Aces Go Long, Aces Swing Easy, and Acres. Rodeo includes Mess With the Bull, Greatest Show on Dirt, Not My First Rodeo, Saddle Up, Work to Shine, and Arena Cowboy. Performance includes BAJA, RACER, and STANG. Outdoor includes Big Barrels, Shooters Shoot, and The Hunter. Cookie Jar includes Cookies N Cream, Cookie Monster, and Mint Chocolate Chip. Coastal adds JAWS, MAVERICKS, and NAZARE.

Catalog years remain attached to each bat for identification; they do not imply a new A1 platform every season. The original Cookies and Cream and the later Cookie Jar Cookies N Cream are separate catalog editions. ULUWATU is a Spec H1 hybrid, not a 25th A1 edition.

Combat Coastal: JAWS, MAVERICKS, NAZARE, and ULUWATU

All four are BBCOR -3 bats with a 2 5/8-inch barrel. The A1 models are one-piece alloy bats; ULUWATU combines an alloy barrel with a composite handle. Listed lengths below describe the catalog size run, not current stock.

How we rate them: JAWS, MAVERICKS, and NAZARE use the existing Spec A1 ratings as a baseline. We have not separately measured their performance, swing weight, or durability. ULUWATU has its own H1 assessment and is excluded from this page's A1 ratings table.

Year and availability: Bat Digest catalogs JAWS and NAZARE as 2026, and MAVERICKS and ULUWATU as 2027. Retailer year labels can differ: JustBats now calls JAWS a 2027 model in its Q&A. The NCAA rows do not state a year, so compare the model codes above. Public product pages confirm retail identification, not current availability; check your exact size and price before buying.

Construction & Technology

The Spec A1 is a one-piece alloy BBCOR bat with a stiff, balanced feel. Retailer specifications describe Combat's SFX barrel. We have not established a construction or performance upgrade for a particular colorway. Coastal JAWS, MAVERICKS, and NAZARE are sold as A1 bats; ULUWATU combines an alloy barrel with a composite handle and belongs to the two-piece H1 family.

Performance Comparison

This review covers the A1 editions cataloged as 2025, 2026, and 2027. The documented differences are graphics, model codes, and available sizes; our reviewed sources do not establish a year-over-year platform redesign. Treat the catalog year as an identifier, not proof of a performance upgrade. Separate Coastal performance, swing-weight, and durability testing is still pending.
