The stand-alone champ of 2020 BBCOR is Slugger's META. The bat gets the best player ratings, has a perfect balance, and feels fantastic. The downsides are that it's expensive, hard to find and illegal in a 33-inch.

The 2023 Marucci CAT X in BBCOR is a fantastic bat that serves the needs of a of hitters. It's lighter, has a decent sized barrel, has fantastic performance along the length of the barrel, is durable and with its unique tech in the knob doesn't feel too bad on mishits. It ranks among our best BBCOR bats for those reasons (and its more reasonable price point).

Due to limited inventory on Demarini/Slugger bats, we think the Marucci CAT 9 Composite Pastime is as good as anything those other companies make (and apparently can't deliver). The 2022 Pastime has a huge barrel, great feel and top end performance. Even though its way more expensive than what we wished it were, in the world of no budget baseball the 2022 Marucci CAT 9 Composite Pastime is the best.

WE DO NOT recommend buying it in the secondary market for a jacked-up price. We've spent some time with the new 2022 DeMarini The Goods in BBCOR. The bat is, as expected, fantastic. We like the 2022 version of the bat as much as the 2021 (which was a lot). And we should. The bat is all but the same. They did change the endcap up a bit to be a bit more durable. But it still hits nukes. It is a bit heavier and probably inappropriate for the 14 or 15-year-old still getting accustomed to the game's speed and drop 3. But, the 16 through 18+ year old that can hit well will like the 2022 DeMarini The Goods. Note, the bat is short from it's stated length. So, a 33, for example, is a 32 1/8" to the end of the barrel. But, since it's endloaded, you don't need to size down to compensate.

DeMarini's Voodoo for 2020 hasn't changed for many years. That's a good thing. Even for 2021, you can find this same bat with a color up. The 2018 version didn't change much from 2019 either, and the 2019 is sort of the same as 2020. The bat is a hybrid bat with a smaller barrel profile. But the stiff feel and alloy barrel really kill the ball.

The 2021 Louisville Slugger META in BBCOR is a near-perfect bat. The only thing it lacks, we think, is a smaller 30-inch size. Otherwise, the balance, barrel size, feel and performance are all on point. The 2021 Slugger META in BBCOR is for big hitters who like as much stiffness as possible in their BBCOR bat won't appreciate the Meta. Those who need bat speed, want a huge barrel, and want a great blend of giving and power in the connection piece will like the 2021 Meta. This bat swings about 10% lighter than the 2021 META PWR.

Louisville Slugger's 2025 Atlas is like the 2024 version but with a more tapered knob. They've had so much success with it they are not only going to stick with it, but stick with trying to convince people they haven't changed the barrel, and our EV tests suggested that might not be entirely true. It's a solid if not overhyped bat.

The new Missile 2 is a legit light swinging bat made by Stinger. The bat uses a good-sized barrel (bigger than the Voodoo One) and an ultra-light swing for the kid who wants the feel of a single-piece alloy bat, with its accompanying feedback, and a great feel and smooth swing. The 2024 DeMarini The Goods released in mid August 2023 but the Camo version of the bat released in March of 2024 as a sort of encouragement and reminder of the models dominance. The bat comes with all the changes (the knob) as the 2024 version of the bat but with a camo look to it. Great bat, one of our favorites. The fact it is the same price is great, we think. Personally, we prefer this to the gray version for 2024, but to each his own.

The bat has a $50 price point increase that's arguably justified by the new expanded warranty (offering multiple replacements through the first year of ownership). We think the Marucci CAT X Vanta Composite is as good as any two-piece composite BBCOR on the market. The bat cranks. It's $20 more than the 2023 version which is no different but the colorup. The 2023 CAT X Composite was our favorite composite BBCOR bat for most of 2023. The Vanta Composite is just as fun but with a great looking color. We are not fans of the $20 price increase so would recommend the 2023 unless you're in love with the black on black colorway.

The 2023 Slugger Meta is a two-piece composite bat that has not changed from the 2022 version (which was a reprint of the 2021 version). We love the bat, and always have. Now that other bats are $500 (and some even more) this bat might be more palatable to the masses. The BBCOR version of the bat is great and, if you're in the market for the best tech that Slugger has to offer, this is it. If you want more swing weight look for the Meta PWR version in 2023 directly on Slugger.com.

The 2022 DeMarini BBCOR ZOA is a two-piece composite bat with a light swing that attempts to build on the success of DeMarini's CF. The three-letter name, ZOA, is like the ZEN in its makeup (a two-piece composite bat with huge barrel and light swing) but all the pieces--from the end cap, handle and barrel are upgraded and changed. Although it does not officially replace the CF for 2022 (the CF is still around) it does match more of the feel found in the Slugger Meta--which is stiffer. We can only imagine that DeMarini is hoping to take some market share back from the Meta in the two-piece composite BBCOR space with this 2022 Zoa.

We don't know much about the 2024 DeMarini Voodoo One other than the fact that the guys on the TCU team that were swinging a Voodoo One from earlier years during the season switched to the 2024 when they had a chance, which was before the general populace as they made the Super Regionals. But, will it be a light swinging single piece alloy with a lot of bang? Probably. We will see.

The Voodoo is easily the most hyped bat on the market today, and much of that is for a good reason. The bat swings well with a light swing and most consider it to have excellent performance. Despite rumors, the bat hasn't changed much since its debut in 2017, but the hype has gone epic proportions despite getting exit speeds a lot like other bats out there. We are fans of the bat but have a real hard time paying $350 for a single-piece alloy.

The 2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro in BBCOR is an ultra-light big barreled bat that sits atop Rawlings' lineup. The bat has changed shape over the years---going from our favorite in 2017/18 to one that doesn't feel as good anymore, at least to us. We think the focus on an ultra-light swing has brought down the value for the average high school baseball player. That said, those looking for the lightest swinging BBCOR bat and also want a huge barrel, decent feel, and a premium price point shoulder really like the 2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro BBCOR.

It is also known that it has a penchant for not lasting too long---especially if you are a bigger and strong hitter. The bat is a big barreled two-piece composite with a light swing, great pop, and huge barrel. If it didn't break as easily as it does, then it would be one of our favorite all-time BBCOR bats.

The Victus Nox, for a first run bat, is fantastic. They claim the bat is endloaded, but our measurement showed it to be about average in the 33-Inch BBCOR market. The two-piece connection gives a semi-flexible feel on bad hits and feels great when you really dial it in. In terms of exit speeds, the bat did as well as anything in the BBCOR space---as most BBCOR bats perform really close to the limit. The Nox is for a hitter who wants a two-piece hybrid bat with a balanced swing. Victus uses a two-year release model, so the 2021 is the same as the 2020.

The CAT 9 is a tiny bit heavier than the average BBCOR but so little that it's hard to tell. By our measurements, this is a lighter swinging bat than the 2018 CAT 8. The Marucci CAT 9 BBCOR is an ultra-popular bat with great barrel size, grip, feel, and performance. It's a top of the line and durable bat that likely deserves all the praise it gets. That said, it is a single-piece alloy and you can find those kinds of bats (without the fancy knob) for a lot less than this. We also love the half sizes added this year.

The 2022 Rawlings Quatro Pro MAX is the same as the Quatro Pro but added swing weight. The bat is similar in thinking to Slugger's META PWR. The bat is built for the big hitter who likes all the features of a two-piece composite (big barrel, great feel, superb sound) but needs an end load. The Quatro Pro Max is a BBCOR only bat and comes in only a 32 through 34. Our gut sense here is that the bat won't sell very often, and very few will find it the right for them. However, the occasional college-level hitter who likes the two-piece composite vibe but can't get enough swing weight out of their Quatro Pro will find value in the 2022 Quatro Max.

We measured the swing weight and found it to swing heavier than last year's model (as Easton claims) but still under the average of its length class. That is, the 33-inch 2021 Easton Maxum Ultra swings light, but not ultra light. This consistently performs high on our exit speed tests, feels great, and, although a single piece, has some give in the composite to help with feel. It is one of our favorite BBCOR bats for 2021.

The 33 and 34-inch BBCOR versions of the Slugger Omaha are considered end-loaded. The 29 through 32 inches are balanced. This dynamic swing weight serves those who need a 33/34 better. Overall, the 2021 BBCOR Omaha is a single-piece bat with a big barrel and decent feel. Our exit speeds show the bat performs as well as any on the market. The 2021 model only has distribution on Slugger's site directly, and that lack of awareness pushes down its relevance and demand. To make matters worse, they raised the starting price by $50 over the 2020. Its 29 through 34-inch lengths, though, do make it an option for every player that can find it.

The 2021 Axe Elite One in BBCOR is a heavy swinging single piece aluminum built for the big hitter who wants an ax-shaped handle and all the barrel they can handle. The 2021 Louisville Slugger Meta PWR is the Meta PWR with an extreme end load. The bat's MOI (swing weight) is in the top 10% of the industry for the given length. It's built for the big hitter who wants more mass in their two-piece composite. As such, the 31 and 32-inch don't make much sense to us. Those who want a 31 and 32-inch PWR should get an inch longer in the non-PWR version. The 31 and 34 are were not available at the bats' release, but we are told they will eventually be available.

The 2022 Louisville Slugger Solo in BBCOR is a single piece bat with a light swing and reasonably sized barrel. We think it feels and performs much like the 2022 Voodoo One which gets, for any number of hype level reason, way more pub in the social fear. It sounds duller than the Voodoo One, but it definitely hits the ball just as hard. The Solo in BBCOR hasn't changed much since its release in 2016/17, but it still packs a punch and is a great fit for the kid for one of the lightesting swinging single piece alloy bats on the market.

Easton's B5 for 2021 is a nostalgic homage to days gone by. Its aesthetic design replicates that of the '80s. But, at its heart, it's a single-piece aluminum that appears to be the Alpha XL last year. It is a single-piece bat with a serious end load, stiff feel and really good performance. DeMarini's 2021 BBCOR CF is a big barrel and light swing. It's most differentiating feature is the semi-flexibility in the handle. Unlike most BBCOR bats which are rather stiff, the 2021 CF (and the CF's before it) has more give in the connection. Connection give does not affect performance. Instead, it affects the perception of your performance. Every hit on the CF feels good. If that is your style, and you like a light swing on a two-piece composite with a big barrel, then the 2021 DeMarini CF BBCOR may very well be for you.

The 2021 Mizuno PWR CRBN in BBCOR has a MAAASSSIVE barrel. It has the largest barrel profile of all BBCOR bats---just a bit bigger than the Easton Maxum Utlra. It swings right between the balanced and balanced+ group. So, in other words, on the verge of feeling a bit heavy, but not that bad. The Stinger Nuke is a single-piece alloy BBCOR bat with an extreme end load. We measured the 32-inch and it swings 50% heavier than the 33-inch BBCOR bats. That's not a bad thing, it's just a thing. The bat works well for elite hitters that can swing hard. Improving to Good hitters will likely find it too much of an end-load for their liking.

The 2016 RIP-IT Element One is a BBCOR drop 3 and recreates a wood bat experience as well as any non-wood bat on the market for 2015. We'd recommend it for stronger hitters who can handle, and often prefer, direct feedback in the hands-on poorly hit balls. The flared grip on the BBCOR versions, as well as the textured grip, do help in some regard with hand sting. The barrel size is, as expected, smaller than many high-performance composite bats in the space.

If you are a line drive or base hit player looking for a bat without a break-in period and an average to below swing weight then the 2016 RIP-IT Element Two is as good a choice as we could recommend. The bat does have a flared knob (which some prefer), only comes in a BBCOR, and isn't too dramatic a change from the 2015 Air Elite---but if those things don't keep you from pulling the trigger then we think nothing should stop you.

We like the 2021 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR more than any 5150 in recent memory. The barrel profile and heavier swing weight, when compared to the VELO (but still average compared to the industry), are just like we like our single-piece aluminum bats. It's an all hitters bat---not too heavy for the kids who need bat speed but like the stiff feel, but just big enough for a strong hitter to size up an inch and start baking dingers. The only hitter who it doesn't fit are those who like a more flexible feel and the smaller player needing as much bat speed as possible.

The Element, on the whole, is the entry level bat for the Axe lineup. You can expect a stiff feel and a moderately balanced swing weight. The new asymmetric endcap to the already asymmetric knob make it a unique choice. We would recommend this for hitters who want the stiff feel of a one piece, the hot out of the wrapper performance of an aluminum and are willing to give an asymmetric knob a whirl.

Regardless of price, we think the Chandler Adult set of bats is the best in overall quality. Now, to be sure, we are splitting hairs here. A lot of really good companies produce high-quality bats. But there is something about a Chandler bat that is just, well, better. We like the feel, the smell, the look and the mystique.
